Ben now had so much of wealth that he didn't feel necessary to rent or sale his former property. Unfortunately after few months some crooks noticed the anarchy at his property and used it for their job. When cops found out that there was something wrong going on there they busted the place and finally busted Ben. Ben inspite of being innocent had to pay heavily for his ignorance.
The scenario of Ben is pretty similar with most of us today. The only difference is that his property is physical and ours, virtual which makes it more easy for a misuse. Many of us sign up for different Social Networking sites. Provide our information and use them for a while, until we find a better one. A most common example is that of people migrating from Orkut to facebook. In doing so people never log in to their previous accounts for months togather; unaware of the status of their profiles in those sites.
Ever imagined how hackers can misuse those accounts for their jobs?? International Intelligence Agencies always track the communication between suspected terrorist groups to learn their moves. This has made the bad guys to switch to other means which might be an abandoned profile. One such profile can be used to threaten someone or to cause a mass viral attack. It can also be used to market some illegal products. If your profile is one among them then ultimately its you who is held responsible.

The answer is quite simple. If you are not using an account then you can simply close it.If you do not wish to close it then just visit it once in a while to see what is happening. Remember, Hackers use only inactive accounts because they always carry the risk of being traced. So follow any one of the above steps and stay safe.
